Vol State Recital Raises Money for Animal Group

Submitted on October 15, 2009 at 11:41 AM

Great music and an important cause: it all adds up to a barking good time. Volunteer State Community College professor Nancy Slaughter plans an animal themed faculty recital that will benefit Gallatin animal rescue group A Safe Place for Animals. Slaughter says the performance will feature songs with animal texts and a bit of humor. Donations will be accepted at the door, including cash, dog food, cat food and other animal products. The web site www.safeplaceforanimals.com has more details on donations. The recital will be October 29 at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium at Caudill Hall. The Vol State campus is located at 1480 Nashville Pike in Gallatin.

The next night student performers will be highlighted in a free recital. Martin Mathis will play trumpet and Stephanie Kowalski is a soprano. They will perform selections by Handel, Mozart and Neruda. The concert will be October 30 at 7:30 p.m. also in the auditorium at Caudill Hall. For more information call 615-230-3545.
